Mellie Grant: The First Lady Who Has Run Out of Fucks to Give
Before ep. 3 I wasn’t sure about Mellie and how much she did or did not know about Olivia and Fitz. I was tentatively on the side of her not knowing but this ep blew that spectacularly out of the water. Mellie knows! She knows and she has either become so resigned to the fact that she no longer cares or her marriage with Fitz has never been a traditional marriage and what she cares about is the country. Maybe it’s a combination of both. Either way her priorities are making sure that Fitz is functional enough to run the country she loves and keeping things in order. And if that means bringing Olivia Pope in then fine because Olivia Pope is the best at what she does and so is Mellie. She lives for the image she presents and she will not have that image ruined for anything. Mellie creates the image and Olivia protects it. I think I might end up shipping them tbqh. Especially because Mellie respects Olivia and what she does. She admires it. I’m kind of obsessed.
